Honey and the Little Girl

Honey has been hired to escort a little girl between divorced parents. But at the airport, two things happen - the girl is kidnapped and Honey picks up the wrong bag. The kidnappers will return the girl for the bag.

Not the best, but In the Bag is still a nice episode. The highlight has to be the work of Everett Sloane as Mr. Bartholomew. He's appropriately menacing in the role of kidnapper. And, his use of disguises actually works. Usually, disguises in shows like this are too obvious and too easy to see through. Here, it's not hard to believe Honey was fooled. And, it has more to do with Sloane's acting than the actual make-up. Nice work.

In this episode's edition of Name That Character Actor, we have multiple possibilities, including the aforementioned Sloane, Len Lesser, and Robert Carricart. But the the one name most will recognize is future Brady Bunch star, Maureen McCormick. Overall, it's a very strong cast.

WATCH THIS ONE FOR THE CAST

Veteran Seymour Robbie directed this adventure, who specialized in cop shows, such as MANNIX, CANNON and MOD SQUAD. He always did a fine job with his cast. This was a very early role for Maureen McCormick (BRADY BUNCH) who plays bratty Margaret with the face of an angel. Likewise, this was a farewell role for the great Everett Sloane (CITIZEN KANE) as a creepy bad guy. Sloan, who wore thick glasses in his scenes, was actually going blind and not too long after this episode took his own life. This was a big shock to Hollywood. Also look for Len Lesser famous as Uncle Leo on SEINFELD. However, for years he was a frequent guest on a who's who of classic shows, such as ALL IN THE FAMILY, GET SMART, MY FAVORITE MARTIAN, just to name a few out of dozens. Here we have another stash episode with Honey in search of a shaving brush filled with jewels. Leave it to the writers who probably came up with the idea while shaving! Very clever stuff and a fun watch, especially Sloane in a campy role. SEASON 1 episode 13. Finally on dvd after many years.

In the Bag

Honey West is escorting a brat Margaret Mary between divorcing parents. It means a troublesome flight between cities.

The real trouble starts when at the airport. The girl's bag gets switched by the smugglers and they kidnap Margaret Mary.

Honey and Sam discover precious gems in the bag that the kidnappers want.

A pretty silly episode. The bad guy just happen to have the same bag as Margaret Mary which they conveniently switch before the police gets him.

The baddie's cohort could just conveniently snatch the girl.

Noted character actor Everett Sloane plays one of the villains in one of his final roles. He is a master of disguise. Sloane was in Citizen Kane.

Look out for Bruce the ocelot getting rather playful in a scene. I think John Ericson was left with some scars afterwards.
