Trivia

David Simon recruited the corner boys that were the subject of his book and mini series 'The Corner' as extras to play the corner drug dealers in the background. When told what the director wanted them to do as far as acting, they told him that he had it all wrong and schooled him on how a real drug corner operated. See more »

Quotes

Robert Ellison: The instant they pulled the trigger I lost my wife, but I joined a club. It's a very exclusive club. But the funny thing about the club is that none of the members want to belong. It's like some sort of secret society where only the initiated can recognize the other members.

Heartbreaking

The first show of the very, very abbreviated second season--which was treated more like a mid-season replacement return--of this great series features Robin Williams as the husband and father of a small Iowa family whose wife is shot and killed in front of him in a botched robbery attempt by some street kids a few blocks from Camden Yards. Besides being a crushing, emotionally powerful episode that featured some fantastic scene-work by Williams,Kyle Secor and Daniel Baldwin, this also featured one of the earliest appearances of one JAke Gyllenhaal(whose dad directed this show. Go figure!),who is,naturally, almost unrecognizable. An episode that will probably stick with you long after you see it. I know it did that for me.
