Scenes inside the 'Federal Bank' were filmed at an Insurance Office, as real banks would not allow their premises to be used. Insurance company staff appear as extras. The building has since been demolished.
The student stunt at the Federal Bank takes place on Tuesday July 21st, 1964.
According to a special that aired in 1994 to mark the programme's 30th anniversary, when comedy team The D-Generation were putting together their satire "Degenocide", they considered using a clip from this episode of Ian Turpie's character being shot by a bank guard, and making a reference to Press Your Luck (1987), a game show that Turpie was hosting in Australia at the time of the satire, in the dialogue they would dub over the clip. The idea "stopped on a Whammy" when the team realised that the Ian Turpie of 1964 looked nothing like his counterpart 24 years on. One other cast member would also be a future game show host - the son of the guard that fired the shots, John Derum, would go on to host The Oz Game (1988).
