HOMICIDE "Anti- Gravity" 1972

This is episode 24 of season 9 of the top-notch Australian Police series, HOMICIDE. This series ran 510 episodes between 1964 and 1977. It follows the Homicide squad of the Melbourne Police Force.

The boys from Homicide are called to the site of car wreck with a dead woman involved. The accident unit smells a rat with the dead woman. Her wounds are not what would have been suffered in a car wreck. They figure she was killed elsewhere and the wreck was an attempt at a cover-up. Detectives, Len Teale, Mike Preston and George Mallaby draw the case.

The boys quickly grab up the husband, Ken Goodlet for a chat. As it so happens, Detective Teale knows both the husband and the dead woman from school days. Goodlet though has an alibi for the time of the death as he was on a train to Sydney for company business.

The Detectives root around talking to family and friends for any possible leads. The dead woman's mother thinks that Goodlet had a piece on the side in Sydney. The wife's death would clear the way for the new woman. Also in the mix is Goodlet's brother, Tom Oliver. There is a sniff of a possible affair between the dead woman and Oliver. Then a local motorcycle thug with a history of assaulting women is the main suspect.

Not really what one would call a burn burner of an episode story wise. Oh well, every series is allowed a speed bump or two. The look of the episode is good with several nice car chase sequences. Even at this late date (1972) the series was still filmed in black and white. (All the better if you ask me)
