Lauren's birthday is coming up... who's Lauren, you ask? Randy's girlfriend. He'd move heaven and earth to appease her, even go so far as to leave his country, but that's another story. Anyhow, she hints about wanting somebody to take her out to dinner. Randy hopes that it will be him, stumbling around with the words the way he was. On to Tool Time where it's time to delve into the old Male bag. One letter is of a drawing from Katy Allen, daughter of Tim Allen. That concludes the show, and just as the audience departs, a familiar face shows up. Remember Lisa the previous tool girl? She's back...and with implants to give her appearance "more power." She's finished school and become a certified paramedic, and right when she mentions looking for a job, Heidi comes in. The two tool girls finally meet and it seems like they'll get along okay, but then Tim invites Lisa back for Friday's show, and then she goes with Tim and Al down to Bike Mike's to catch up, making poor Heidi feel left out. To be fair, they did invite her, but she couldn't make it. As for Friday's show, it's gonna be a big one. They're going to primer Tim's hot rod. So, the show takes off without a hitch, though it seems like there is nothing for Heidi to do. Even when Tim gets an obligatory injury, Lisa the trained paramedic leaps right in. It's not so much that Heidi is jealous of Lisa, but she feels that her job is being threatened. But I'm sure it's no big deal.
Get this: Heidi calls Tim at home to tell him she quit. Apparently, the Tool Man didn't consider her feelings when he invited Lisa back to the show, or that he ignored her the other day. When Brad heard, he was crushed. Watching Heidi on Fool Time was his reason for living. As for Jill, she pointed out Tim's treatment of Heidi and the dumbass didn't make any connection. But enough of that, let's watch Randy make an ass of himself on his first date with Laren. They go to Sarrentino's and meet Antonio, the surly waiter. Randy is as nervous as a long-tailed rat in a room full of rattraps. He spills water all over her dress, and right when she goes to dry off, Randy runs into a familiar face: Wilson. Again, when there's trouble, he's never far. Ol' Wilson is here for his annual wine club, except he's the one attendee. He gives Randy some words of encouragement, and tells him to live in the moment without worrying about what will or might happen. Lauren comes back soon after, and so does snarky Antonio. Randy mans up and tells him they're on their first date and were told they would have an enjoyable evening. Antonio apologizes, blaming Wilson's wine club for his nerves and brings them some complimentary appetizers. And to cap off the evening, Randy receives his first kiss. One problem down, but one remaining: Tim goes to see Heidi at her Mommy and Baby class, they get to talking, feelings are made known. Tim tells her how important she is to Tool Time, and that Lisa DID find a job: as a paramedic. So, Heidi agrees to come back. She takes off to tell her husband, while Tim is invited to be little Amy's partner while the group sings another song. He even has to change her dirty diaper. Well, never let it be said that Tim isn't there for his friends.
This one was pretty good. It had a lot of heart. The story was good, it had a strong plot, and the ending was pretty funny, but I have to say: as beautiful a looker as Debbe Dunning is, she really can't act to save her life. I mean, I did buy it when she watches Tim, Al and Lisa go and feels left out, but other than that, whenever she's given a chance to act, she always fails. Plus, starting next season, she'll have a more substantial role on the show, even making it into the opening credits. By the way, Antonio the waiter will be back in future episodes and he's about as funny as a nail in the head. Other than that, The Kiss & The Kiss-Off was really good, and Season 6 itself was okay. Those boys are really growing up. The start of the season saw Brad in his first make- out session, and we closed the season with Randy's first kiss. But, much like the driving episode, we never did get one with Mark getting a steady girlfriend. Being the youngest really DOES suck. As for Season 6 as a whole, I can conclude that it was... alright. Definitely a weaker season than Season 5, but it did have some good episodes, like The Wood, the Bad and the Hungry, Jill and Her Sisters, Taps, The Kiss and The Kiss-Off, No Place Like Home, The Karate Kid Returns, and I Was a Teenage Taylor. It's also got total crap like Totally Tool Time, Future Shock, Al's Video, At Sea, and Workshop Til You Drop. However, if you're buying Home Improvement on DVD, I'd say Season 6 is still a worthy purchase. Next up, Season 7, and the trip down hill grows ever steeper.
