Storyline

Astor Harris and Joe Hine both visit a country in the far east to tender for an arms deal; the Defence Minister, Lao, is impressed by Hine's offer but on his return to London Harris is told by Gibb that the British government would prefer his offer - and the opportunity to send out 'advisors' and 'instructors' that it gives - to succeed. On a visit to Britain by the President and Lao soon after, Hine's access to them to conclude the deal is at first blocked in favour of Harris, before eventually being given an invitation to a reception they are attending. Able to speak to Lao, Hine learns that his offer will not be taken up; seeking one final chance to discuss the matter, he finds he is not even invited to the following dinner, and leaves when it becomes obvious that Harris has been successful.
