"Red" Baker escapes from prison with assistance from Carol Hayes (the widow of his late partner, Fred Hayes). Baker is determined to murder Judge Crosson, who gave him and Hayes the maximum sentences possible. Carol is more than willing to help, since she blames the judge for her husband's death while in prison. When Baker's prison uniform is found, a moulage of nearby tire tracks and some calls to the penitentiary lead Dan Mathews and Officers Garvey and Dennis to Carol. Under intensive questioning, she finally admits that Baker plans to assassinate the judge from a lumberyard across from his regular barber shop. Dan and the two officers corner Baker in the lumberyard, but the felon proves willing to make a kamikaze-like effort to kill the judge. Written by
