Methos fighting
anjchang22 October 2021
Great episode revealing the background story of MacLeod. Fantastic swordplay. The advice from Methos was wise and it was a joy to see him fight. I suspect Methos is a great fighter who downplays his ability. Very cool, would watch again just to see Methos fight.

Old Grudges and Old Regrets

Warning: Spoilers
1. Duncan has a reckoning with a regretful part of his past when he is finally found by immortal Steven Keane who has pursued the Highlander for 200 years. The old wars between Scotland and England left bitter memories on both sides. To make matters worse the killing didn't stop even after the war was officially over. Keane has come to challenge Duncan because he holds Duncan responsible for the death of many English military men including a dear friend of Keane's. Duncan is aware that there was plenty of blame to go around, but he is weighed down with guilt due to that dark period in his life. Keane is also aware of what Duncan did to the immortal psychologist Sean Burns, a man once respected by both Duncan and Keane. 2. Amanda is afraid that Duncan will lose a fight between himself and Keane because Duncan is feeling so much guilt that he will not be at his best. She tries imaginative ways to keep the two immortals apart. 3. Methos, who usually does not get involved, shares some great wisdom with Duncan and tries to intervene, but Duncan will not have any of it. Keane remembers the wisdom and advice of Sean Burns, advice which influenced him a great deal. 4. Duncan believes he can defeat Keane in battle, but he also believes that Keane is a good man and does not want to kill him, so he has to try somehow to convince Keane that they don't have to be enemies. 5. I wanted to believe that with time these two immortals could have become friends. 6. Personally I believe that in this story we see some of the best writing in this TV series.
