John Vernon and Rodney Bunker

"Revenge" finds the Shawnee on the warpath behind bloodthirsty Tesan (Powys Thomas, fifth of six), despite protests from Chief Nangus (John Vernon, seventh of eight). The brutal murders of his parents has young Lieutenant Parker (Rodney Bunker, last of five) in the mood for blind vengeance, seeking to wipe out the entire Shawnee village no matter the repercussions. Hawkeye explains how he bears no malice despite his own father being killed by a tomahawk, but Parker refuses to listen. Major Conn (Chris Wiggins, fifth of six) asks Hawkeye and Chingachgook to bring Nangus to the fort to discuss terms of peace, assigning Lt. Parker to serve as the Chief's personal guard. None of this sits well with Tesan, who sneaks inside the fort, knocks out Parker, then uses the lieutenant's own knife to murder Nangus. New Shawnee chief Otano (Juan Root, sixth of eight) joins Tesan in watching Parker face the firing squad, but Chingachgook disguises himself in the headdress of Nangus to deliver the true killer to justice. In a nice change of pace, John Vernon here plays a sympathetic role.
