An excellent story, which may have inspired many later cop show episodes, worth a look, especially for the cast.
Mary Tyler Moore guest stars (her fourth series appearance) as Peggy Regan, who may or may not be the real daughter of a wealthy man. Greg (Grant Williams) is called into the case, all revolving around an obiturary of the man's wife, who left him years earlier.
Mary, as usual, is very good in a dramatic role (in which she almost gets killed) and would have returned, though she was also co-starring in the DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. Fellow cast member Richard Deacon has an interesting role as a funeral director??
Guest star Irene Hervey plays Harriet Regan, and has some good scenes. Connie Stevens (Cricket) sings an old Buddy DeSylva tune(!) and Poncie Ponce is hanging around somewhere! At the time Poncie recorded his second LP, always with his prize ukulele, which was rated three stars by Billboard.
Well directed by Robert Sparr, who was also directing 77 SUNSET STRIP, later many episodes of the WILD, WILD WEST with Robert Conrad. Written by popular tv screen writer Sonya Roberts, who wrote many years for PEYTON PLACE.
Do not miss. From SEASON 3 EPISODE 11 remastered Warner Bros dvd box set.
