One of the better ones....

This film is actually the second one involving a prisoner taking a hostage and negotiating with McGarrett. And, interestingly, it's also the second one where Al Harrington (who later played the regular cast member 'Ben') was in the prison--but here he is a guard and not a prisoner.

The show begins with a prisoner being brought into the infirmary after being stabbed. Surprisingly, the dying man is being cared for by the man who was sent to prison for murder...a murder the dying man actually committed!! The dying guy admits this to him but dies before anyone else can witness this. Enraged, the innocent man grabs a guard's gun and takes the doctor (look--this actor is Boss Hog from "The Dukes of Hazzard") hostage. When McGarrett arrives shortly afterwords, the prisoner says he'll kill the doctor unless McGarrett personally investigates his three year old case and prove he's innocent.

What follows is a fascinating show--where, despite it being a very cold case, it turns out to have a lot of unexpected twists and turns. Very well written, not a lot of macho histrionics and very good acting all around. See this one.
