In the most recent (2018) re-syndication of the series by CBS, it is frustrating that pieces, some important to the story, are cut from each program to make more time for ad space, as well as re-editing the usually dramatic breaks with the "wave" bumper so they lack the dramatic weight, and now they also cut into the final segment with the climactic action, for yet another ad. Noticed in this particular program they have also tampered with the sound track, and no more can 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon" be heard during the circus scene, it's replaced by a frantic clatter by a brass band, which succeeds in destroying the memorable, Hitchcock-like tension the calmer, more suitable music had.(Seen on "MeTv" Cable, 21 March 2018)
Jonathan Kaye reminds McGarrett of the "Disneyland Kruschchev Caper". In 1959, while visiting America, Soviet Leader Nikita Kruschchev was told that for security reasons, he could not go to Disneyland. Khrushchev responded in anger, "And I say, I would very much like to go and see Disneyland. But then, we cannot guarantee your security, they say. Then what must I do? Commit suicide? What is it? Is there an epidemic of cholera there or something? Or have gangsters taken hold of the place that can destroy me?" Kruschchev left Los Angeles the next morning.
