The first of three successive episodes about world-famous scientists...
planktonrules3 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The show begins with a government researcher being set up by his supposed girlfriend. He thinks she's being attacked by a madman with a gun. When the gun falls, the researcher grabs it and fires—not knowing that the gun is filled with blanks. However, to make the setup complete, after the two run from the apartment, the mastermind arrives and kills the man for real. Now, the scientist is in hiding with his "loving girlfriend" and the real reason for the setup is becoming apparent—they want to blackmail him into selling out to an enemy nation—as the man (Dr. Royce) has invented an amazing underwater sensing device.

The girl's uncle is played by Ronald Long, the very erudite and cool British actor. While he looks and sounds nothing like a possible uncle for this lady, he is, as always, quite entertaining. In some ways, I am surprised they didn't have the old familiar Wo Fat play the guy, but not doing so worked out very well. Charles Aidman, while not a familiar name (but a very capable and familiar character actor) played Royce very capably as well.

Overall, it's a very good spy episode—one of the best of the series. Exciting and well written.
