This episode of "Hawaii Five-O" has an odd premise--but one that made me wonder if perhaps it was based on real stories of drug smugglers. It seems that a group of opportunists have come up with a great scheme for getting heroin onto the islands. With a recent crackdown, the drug supply has died up and this trio has figured out how to beat it. They fly a small plane very low over the water and snatch floating shipments with a grappling hook. Now here's the clever part. As the pilot (Ed Harris) is returning to the airport, his assistant (Bruce Boxleitner) jumps out of the plane--skydiving to a location far from the police. I am not sure how easy it would really be to snag a floating supply of drugs, but otherwise the plan seemed really good. However, there are a few problems. First, one of their compatriots is an addict--and a liability. When he's killed, Five-O investigates and gets very close to the crooks. Second, within this happy gang is a nasty subplot brewing--with an interesting twist.
The only real negative for me in this is that McGarrett catching the trio in the act seemed a bit far-fetched. Still, an original story and some interesting twists make this one well worth seeing.
