Tippi Hedren, who plays animal preserve owner Liza Atterton, has been rescuing exotic animals since 1972. She founded The Shambala Preserve in Acton, CA which has been funded since 1983 by the non-profit Roar Foundation.
David McCallum (Geoffrey Atterton) played Illya Kuryakin in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964). Stefanie Powers (Jennifer Hart) played April Dancer in The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. (1966).
William Holden, who was a long-term partner of Stefanie Powers, started the Holden's Mount Kenya Game Ranch. After Holden's death, Ms. Powers started the William Holden Wildlife Foundation.
Another wildlife preservation link: Ian Bannen plays the murderous villain here. One of his last roles was in 'To Walk with Lions' about George Adamson's fight to save Kenya's wildlife from poachers.
Footage from the intro for Fantasy Island---another Spelling/Goldberg successful series of the era---has been used here; it is the panning over the Hawaii waterfalls, complete with rainbows at the bottom.
