A young woman is murdered on a college campus, and the police suspect an eccentric young man named Lester Hodges as the killer. Harry is hired by Lester's father to prove his son's innocence. Lester is intensely interested in criminology and begins to idolize Orwell, even dressing like him and imitating his actions.
