The Lady Vanishes in all but name

Warning: Spoilers
THE GOOD SAMARITAN is a virtual re-run of the Hitchcock film THE LADY VANISHES, except done on the usual constraints of 1980s-era British TV. Hannay finds himself on a lengthy train journey, with his fellow passengers including spies, murderers, police, artists and various assorted bigwigs. It's a lively little number in which the discovery of real identities is key, and there's plenty of incident to keep it chug-chugging along.

The Good Samaritan

Richard Hannay boards the Trans European Express from Venice. He unwittingly comes to the aid of American artist Dore Nicholson (Sharon Maughan) who has brought a lot of luggage and her collection of paintings which she wants to place in her apartment.

Hannay also comes across an old friend from the diplomatic service. Hannay discovers that the train is full of celebrities and diplomats with lots of intrigue. His friend advises Hannay to watch his back.

Well Hannay ends up looking for Miss Nicholson who has gone missing. She has something valuable and it is not her paintings.

Tycoon Auguste Kars (Marc Zuber) is certainly interested in the items Miss Nicolson has with her.

Definitely a nod to The Lady Vanishes. The director tries had to make it exciting, Hannay tries to get away from his carriage from the outside. It is all a little humdrum despite a few twists.
