Hancock's on jury service
3 May 2007 | by (Manchester) – See all my reviews

Yet another classic episode of the legendary sitcom: Hancock's Half Hour.

There is a trial going on and Hancock is the foreman of the Jury. The accused has the evidence stuck right up against him. When the jury decide the verdict (Sid also being on the Jury), they all know he is guilty, but Hancock doesn't agree saying he's got a nice face (It could be his twin brother). Sid is also saying not guilty as he is getting paid more for Jury Service, than he would get in a normal days work. Hancock won't budge and a frustrated Jury wait all night. Fed up, they all agree not guilty so they can go home. Someone on the Jury says "Fine not Guilty, let him run loose, let him break into your house", Hancock says "Now you put it like that, I say we find him guilty". They all agree and the accused is guilty.

This episode featured one of the most famous Hancock lines, "Does the Magna Carta mean nothing to you. Did she die in vein" Best Bit: HANCOCK: What do you think Miss, Guilty or not Guilty, WOMAN: Guilty, the man is a menace, society needs to be rid of these people, lock him up, throw away the key and let the beast die is prison, HANCOCK: So much for the gentler sex.
