Storyline

This two-part show has a host of guest actors to play members of a gang that is robbing banks across the west in extremely well planned raids. The Jim Stark gang heads for Dodge City to plan their next robbery. Stark has been warned that Dodge's Marshall Dillon will be a formidable opponent, so he plans to get rid of Dillon before the robbery. After his first attempt fails, Stark comes up with another plan to get Dillon out of the way, and this time it works. The Stark gang robs the bank, but it does not go exactly as planned, and in the second part this show, Stark will be looking over his shoulder for Dillon. Written by David Wile

Part one is action packed- can't wait to see part two

This part one episode has everything that makes the 'Gunsmoke' series a long running western drama. In fact this was one of the better shows that I have seen in a long time. I am really not a fan of two part episodes since most of the time the first part is just extended dialog. But this episode proved me wrong.

The story involves a large group of bandits led by Jim Stark. they have been robbing banks all across Missouri and now have may there way toward Dodge. They are not a regular group of outlaws that just ride into town and rob, they have a unique plan where they send someone into town the day before the robbery and get all the scoop of the town.

The Stark Group send in a man, Les McConnell (John Anderson), who poses as a gun salesman. He is like the front man that goes around town casing out the town before reporting back to Jim Stark. With timely precision the group rides in from direct directions and goes into the bank and forces the manager to open the safe. The group are only in the bank for a short time before leaving with the loot. This has worked well for many robberies.

However, even with advise that Dodge has a Marshal with a tough background on outlaws, Jim Stark wants the Dodge Bank. He sends two of his men into Dodge to kill Marshal Dillon. But things go wrong for the two and they are killed. Marshal Dillon suspects something is up and starts looking at old wanted posters.

Jim Stark wants the bank so bad plus the fact that none of the gang is wanted in Kansas, he still seeks to rob the bank. His gang rides into town with the same standards but do not realize that Marshal Dillon knows the gang is somewhere around Dodge.

This is an outstanding episode that is packed full of action and suspense. Nearly every scene in this episode is important to the overall plot which keeps the viewer interested the entire time. After watching cannot wait to see the second part of this show.
