A great story as Festus makes a trip to deliver $11 to Abilene.
9 January 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Festus has been helping an older man in poor health named Jeb Spencer do some odd and end things around his farm. Jeb has been doing poorly and all he has around him is his 28 year old daughter named Charity Spencer. Charity is the woman around the house and has lived with her father all her life. When Jeb dies, he had asked Festus to take care of Charity. But it seems Charity now has no reason to live in Dodge and wants to move to woman's house in Abilene Texas and live her own life.

Festus agrees to sell the rest of their belongs thinking he could get $40 for the lot. With Charity leaving so fast, Festus gives her the money and will sell the rest at a later date. When Festus gets $51 dollar he feels the need to make sure that Charity gets the other $11 so he makes plans to take the money to her personally.

On his way to Abilene, his mule throws a shoe so he walks up to this farm. The farm is occupied by Sara Elkins and her two boys. Sara is awaiting a mail-order husband and at first she thought that the dirty Festus happened to be the man. When things are straighten out, Festus agrees to do some work around the house for food. It was obvious to the viewer that Festus was smitten with the woman but did the right thing and wished her be best in her marriage.

When Festus gets to Abilene, things do not go as he thought. He is sadden to have made the long trip to see Charity. But as he is leaving something changes his mind. The trip was not for nothing.

A very nice story. Well written and well acted. This is a show that makes you feel better for watching. A nice watch for anyone!
