In episode 12 of season 13 Matt and Doc quarantines private car of a train. One of the passengers is suspected of having the plague. There's a major flaw in the scene where they isolate the infected car. The conductor that was servicing the passengers of the quarantined car was allowed to leave with the remainder of the train that was allowed to leave.

A predictable show but better than expected.

In this predictable episode we have a disease that has entered Dodge by means of train and could be a threat to all the citizens in the area.

A rich man, Hal Townsend (Morgan Woodward), has his own train cars with his wife, Isabel, a roughneck friend, Purlie Loftus, and a butler and they have entered Dodge on their was toward back to St Louis. The butler has been sick a few days and Isabel goes against the wishes of her husband and gets Doc Adams to check on the sick man. What Doc Adams finds is that the butler has spotted fever.

Spotted Fever is a dreaded disease that can cause an serious epidemic with many people dying. Doc informs Marshal Dillon about the situation and think it is best to remove the special car from the train and leave it in Dodge so the sickness will not spread. The only problem is that two cowboys happen to overhear the conversation and begin spreading the serious news throughout town.

It is not long till the citizens are near riot conditions wanting the train car outside of Dodge. If Matt does not remove the train car, the citizens have a way to get rid of the car and the people that possible carry the disease. But the disease may hold another card for the characters in this story.

I saw the rating of this show and was not expecting too much. However, the story was not really that bad. The way the writer showed how people can become so scared that they can easily drop any from of control or sense and let fear take over their reactions was real prevalent in this show. Not the best episode but one that the viewer wanted to watch to the end.
