A storm rages in Seattle. Izzie is very disappointed by her date with Alex, and Meredith is upset with Derek. They both complain to George, which drives him crazy. At the hospital, Cristina is assigned a patient who uses porn as a pain killer, and Meredith takes care of an Asian girl who needs to see a Shaman before surgery. There is a power shortage, and George and Alex are stuck in an elevator with a critical patient. They need to perform heart surgery, but Alex is too freaked out, so George does it. Written by

The helicopter which flies the Shaman to the helipad - actually located at Fischer Plaza - is an Agusta A109/Mark II, tail N2MF which can be seen for a few frames during the overhead shot. The aircraft is part of the Airlift Northwest fleet. See more
In 'Bring the Pain', when Alex and George are in the elevator waiting for Burke to come back, you briefly see the opening to the lift dressed with the blue paper and two nurses in the background. When the camera pans back up a few moments later, the nurses are still there but the papered up opening is not. Nor is it there when Burke finally does reappear with what they need for the open-heart surgery. See more
