A tiny gun so quiet that a murder at an interment goes unsolved, despite the D.A.'s stakeout, propels the Green Hornet into attack. Mobsters battle over the smokeless gun, providing Daily Sentinel publisher Britt Reid's secret identity, The Green Hornet - feared as a criminal mastermind by citizens everywhere, but actually in cahoots with the D.A. - a reliable excuse to horn in on his supposed competition. The Hornet's martial artist sidekick Kato and state-of-the-pop-art weapons intensify the brutal struggle over the silent Saturday special, avidly covered by the Sentinel's crack crime reporter - without a clue his boss is a green-masked, green-eyed crime-fighter.
