The legendary John Carradine is the villain
14 January 2011 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"Alias the Scarf" is a disappointing episode, with Van Williams and Bruce Lee hardly appearing in costume. Legendary scene stealer John Carradine plays James Rancourt, who runs a wax museum with partner Peter Willman (Ian Wolfe), conducting tours for paying customers. The Green Hornet and Kato are the newest exhibits in the crime section, where Rancourt enjoys discussing a mysterious strangler known only as The Scarf, who disappeared 15 years earlier after befriending a stripper (Patricia Barry) who doesn't believe him guilty of the crimes. One night, the wax figure of The Scarf, which bears a strong likeness to Rancourt, apparently comes to life, stiffly walking by its own empty exhibit, strangling the unsuspecting Willman, and searching for more victims through the night fog. That's really all the atmosphere there is, as our heroes stay on the sidelines throughout. By the late 1960's, as TV Westerns began to peter out, Carradine began branching out into more campy shows, with roles on THE GIRL FROM U.N.C.L.E., LOST IN SPACE, LAND OF THE GIANTS, and NIGHT GALLERY. His final appearance on network TV was on January 3 1986, on the new TWILIGHT ZONE episode "Still Life," opposite son Robert.
