Although aired for the first time in January of 1964, this episode about the later years and murder of Wild Bill Hickock had originally been scheduled for November 22, 1963, the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It was, therefore, preempted by news coverage of history making events such as the return of newly sworn-in President Lyndon B.
