There's something creepy lurking beneath the kitchen sink. It may look like a regular sponge, and even feel like a regular sponge, but it is no ordinary sponge -- it's alive! When Kat discovers it in her new house, life becomes a "grooling" experience. After the sponge turns up, everything seems to go wrong. Kat's luck seems to go from bad to worse. If she can just get rid of this bad sponge for good, that would be great... But this is one sponge that's hard to rub out. Written by Anonymous

Nobody likes a sponger.
4 July 2013 | by (Edinburgh.) – See all my reviews

One of the better Goosebumps episodes, this is also one of the silliest. But when silly is done this well it's great entertainment.

A young Katharine Isabelle plays Kat Merton, a girl who finds something truly horrible in the new home that she has just moved into with her brother and her parents. It was hiding under the sink and looks like a sponge, but it's not just a sponge. It's nasty. Of course, nobody believes Kat. Whoever heard of a nasty, dangerous sponge?

Directed by David Winning, this episode takes the ridiculous premise and milks it for every drop of entertainment value as everyone around Kat, quite rightly, jokes about the situation while disbelieving her story.

Isabelle is good in the lead role, admirably reacting in horror to the sponge creature, while Tyrone Savage is a standard pesky brother and has a lot of fun at his sister's expense.

It starts off at a brisk pace and never really lets up, right up to an amusing and ridiculous punchline, making it a fantastic and memorable episode.
