Storyline

However, the real trouble comes when an ex-girlfriend named Mary Ann confronts JJ with the news that she has VD and accuses JJ of giving it to her. JJ must now go the clinic to get an exam to confirm whether or not he has it before Flo and James come home. Written by Brian Washington <Sargebri@att.net>

Jay Leno's TV acting debut
29 December 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"JJ in Trouble" was the lone instance where a parental advisory accompanied its telecast, even in syndication, such was the frank nature of the subject matter. When the cat's away the mice will play, Mom and Dad out of town, the Evans children staying out late as a result (a virtual preview of how the fifth season will look, Willona in charge of things). Old girlfriend Mary Ann Thomas (Ta-Tanisha) calls on JJ to accuse him of giving her VD, which is enough for his panicked siblings to drag him over to the free clinic. He pretends to be there to treat a cold, but a young man (Jay Leno) admits that everyone else is present for VD! As it turns out he doesn't have the disease, which means that Mary Ann's current quarterback boyfriend is the responsible party, and they're engaged to be married. At least she apologizes for putting JJ through the trauma: "I'm glad you did, if I'm sick I want to be amongst the first to know about it!" Jay Leno was making his TV acting debut, in a small but noticeable role.
