Moses Gunn debuts as Carl Dixon
21 December 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"A Stormy Relationship" finds Michael working his first job, in the repair shop of Carl Dixon (Moses Gunn), whose personal views have inspired the 15 year old to become an atheist. Being a lifelong Christian, Florida takes it upon herself to confront Carl and essentially get her son fired. Carl earns her gratitude by volunteering to do the dirty work, but Michael is so upset that he admits he'll work for nothing. Rather than allow the teenager to blame his mother Carl again comes to her rescue, assuring Michael that the boy doesn't have to become an atheist to be his friend. The casting of Moses Gunn was quite a coup, highly regarded in features like "Shaft" and the series ROOTS, his brief tenure lasting for the last six episodes of this fourth season.
