Teaching should be fun

Warning: Spoilers
Miss Bliss's mentor, Mr. Lyman substitutes as a favor for her. Conflict comes into play when Lyman's unusual teaching methods clash with Mr. Belding. Miss Bliss assures him that Mr. Lyman knows what he's doing, but Lyman goes too far off the beaten path when the kids begin to prefer his teaching methods over Miss Bliss. Meanwhile, Nikki is the star pitcher for JFK's softball team. Lisa makes it known that Nikki should be focusing more on being a girl. Lisa teachers her about makeup and everything else that is ladylike, but Nikki prefers being one of the guys. I wouldn't say this was the finale a show of this caliber deserved. I think this was a terrific show that is sadly neglected. Saved by The Bell is one of my all time favorite television shows, but this was a precursor to that show. Sure, it didn't have the same star power, but it had many ingredients that I loved about SBTB, especially the last few episodes, when this show really got on a roll. I do like this episode a lot, though. I liked the style of Mr. Lyman. It's about time a teacher tried to reinvigorate the class with bold tactics. Teaching should be fun, and it should be fun for the students as well. Most teachers just wanna be paid these days. You should have passion, and care about what your kids are learning. I think this episode touched on that nicely. Nikki's storyline was amusing, and a nice side story. I like tomboys like Nikki. I always get sad whenever I watch this one, because I know it's the last ever episode for Good Morning, Miss Bliss. Nikki wouldn't be brought back for SBTB, nor would Mikey, Tina (Thank god) or Milo. Mr. Belding, Lisa, and of course, Zack Morris would become fixtures on SBTB. I can't believe Miss Bliss wasn't brought in for SBTB. She could have had at least a supporting role. I really did love her character. She brought a lot of positivity and charisma to the show; thank you Hayley Mills for a wonderful character.

The Mentor (#1.13)

Warning: Spoilers
The old history teacher of Miss Bliss Mr Lymann comes for a visit. She gets him to be her substitute and he turns the school off with his nontraditional teaching methods. But it is because for him teaching kids is more important than rules. And Nikki tries to wear make up instead of pitching but changes her mind.

A less funny episode with more cheesiness and yet of course sweet and with a good message that is fitting for the audience of young people. His teaching methods weren't all that horrible anyways. I guess one should just say ahead before one goes on a field trip.

Glad that Nikki decided not to wear that silly make up and go back to sports like the truly cool girls do.

Dead Poets Society Prequel

Warning: Spoilers
It reminded me of Dead Poets Society. The Mentor episode came out a few months before the movie. The Mentor and Robin Williams were co stars on Mork & Mindy.
