Stand by Your Man (#6.11)

Warning: Spoilers
Blanche has no date so Dorothy takes her to the library. There Blanche meets a man she is interested in and they decide to have a date. And then she sees that he is in a wheelchair. She is uncomfortable with the idea and gets Sophia to go with her as her chaperone, but then she gets used to it and they send Sophia home. After they spend some time together Blanche finds out that he is married.

Blanche's story is alright. Guess it shows us that people in wheelchairs are just people, and one of them can end up being a jerk. But I did love Sophia at the date.

And the puppy story was pointless. I just felt bad for the poor puppy.

Shallow Blanche learns something about humility when used.

Warning: Spoilers
We've seen Blanche go out with a variety of men over the past six seasons up to this point, and if it wasn't a virginal ex-priest, a friend with benefits, a few truly nice guys who loves Blanche for who she was, one of them being a blind man, now she finds potential love with a man in a wheelchair. Frankly, I didn't find his character appealing from the start, and while she'll go on to date uneven bigger jerk shortly afterwards, you'd think she'd learn a lesson here. He turns out to be married, showing that just because someone has a handicap doesn't make them special or vulnerable to other people's feelings. This is one of those episodes that I can click past and not really feel I've missed anything, although Sophia playing tag along on the date is funny
