Goofs

Angelo claims he promised their mother on her deathbed that he would become a priest, and Sophia says she promised she would marry someone else - and we assume she died before Sophia or Angelo got married to their spouses. However, in the episode where they are flashing back for Mother's Day, Sophia's mother is in this episode along with Sal (and she looks like an older version of Dorothy). See more »

[in an odd situation, Sophia's brother Angelo is visiting, Rose and Blanche are dressed as nuns, and Dorothy and Stan are pretending to be married]
Rose: I'm Sister Rose!
Blanche: And I'm Sister Blanche. We're... uh, going...
[looks at panties in her hands]
Blanche: ...door to door collecting lingerie for... needy sexy people.
Stan: [Stan comes in] I just saw on TV that there's a big hurricane on the way to Miami, and the airports are closed!
Blanche: Aw, *Jesus*!
[catches herself]
Blanche: ...protect us, in this time of great need.
Dorothy: Amen!

My Brother, My Father (#3.17)
19 January 2014 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Sophia's brother Angelo who is a priest comes for a visit. To not upset the highly religious relative Stan and Dorothy pretend to still be married. Blanche and Rose who come home in their nun costumes from the play pretend to be real nuns for the same reason. There is a storm so they are all trapped and because it is actually Dorothy and Stan's 40th anniversary Rose has a great idea to have them renew their vows since there is a priest in the house.

A hilarious episode with one great joke after another. Bill Dana was awesome as the priest uncle. And the fact that the priest is not the priest at the end makes the story well wrapped up and especially funny!
