Did You Know?

Although it is widely believed that Blanche's exact age was never revealed, in this episode it is revealed in a flashback that Blanche was 17 in 1949. That would make her 53 years old when the series began in 1985 and 60 when it ended in 1992. See more »

Dorothy's son Michael is twenty-two years old in season three. When Sophia and Dorothy reminisce Brooklyn, NY, 1954, Dorothy asks Sophia to babysit her children, one of whom is Michael. Sophia refuses, so Dorothy says "I'll just leave them with Stan's mother." They talk about Michael screaming when Stan's mother was watching over them. If Michael was a baby in the fifties, he should be in his thirties in season three. See more »

Blanche Devereaux: [reminiscing with her aged mother in a nursing home on Mother's Day about a teenage affair] I gave Dec back his ID bracelet, that had 'Dec' on one side and 'allergic to the law' on the other, hopped in the car with you and Daddy, and we took off home. I asked you if you were mad at me. You said, "Why no, darlin'. This is the best Mother's Day I've ever had." Don't you remember that, Mama?
Margaret: Well, I thought that happened to Virginia. Wasn't Virginia the slut?
Blanche Devereaux: No, ma'am, that was me.

Mother's Day (#3.25)
20 January 2014 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

It is mother's day and the girls are getting ready to go to a restaurant. While they are waiting for the calls from their children they remember some stories from mother's days they had. Dorothy remembers the one when her and Stan went to Stan's mother to ask for money. Rose remembers when she was waiting at the bus station to go to her kids with an older lady who was visiting the grave of her daughter. And Sophia remembers the one when they convinced her mother to move in with her and her husband.

Rose's story is the best, I had tears in my eyes watching the ending. Such a sweet, emotional story well fitting to Rose's character. It was also great to see Dorothy playing Sophia's mom. Too bad there was no story from Blanche, but at least she got a call as well!
