Henny Penny - Straight, No Chaser (#6.26)

Warning: Spoilers
Dorothy is working on a play to get the kids from her school into reading. But then the whole cats gets the Measles and to save the play Dorothy gets all the other girls to participate in the play and herself as well. Rose has some bad moments when she finds out how it ends but at the end it all goes well and they have a successful play.

What a sweet episode. Loved to see the girls in all the costumes portraying the sweet farm birds. They all did a great character performance.

And I felt for Rose being upset the damn kids didn't want to save the birds. Didn't like that reaction! But they had a sweet review. Really made me laugh.

Where are we going to find an adult with the childlike innocence to play Henny Penny?

Warning: Spoilers
Of course it ends up being Rose, and Blanche gets to be Goosey Loosey, while Dorothy finds out that it's Turkey Lurkey Time. They are cast in the school play when the child actors are quarantined with the measles, and Sophia ends up being the narrator with Blanche's old friend the director George Hearn being Foxy Loxy. Blanche isn't happy though to read not only her obituary in the paper but identifying her age as 68, giving Dorothy plenty of opportunity for wisecracks. It's a very funny episode with the girls looking hysterical in their costumes. Of course, roses and happy by the end of the children's story and decides to change it, having praised her version of Hamlet from years ago that was set in a barnyard, an interesting nod to George Orwell's "Animal Farm". This is a colorful, fun musical way to end season six.
