Storyline

Rory is invited to Sherry's baby shower and Lorelai gets pulled in with her. Between Sherrys good will and the party poppers, Lorelai is at her breaking point and feels the need to let off some steam. This is a reference to the July 2001 incident where celebrity publicist Elizabeth Grubman backed her Mercedes into a crowd of outside an inn in the Hamptons. At the baby shower, Lorelai says her main inspiration for raising Rory was "For Keeps?", the 1988 Molly Ringwald movie about teen pregnancy. But based on Rory's age in the show, she was born around 1984 or '85, meaning the movie would not have been out yet. See more »
