A Welcome Return
15 April 2008 | by (Argentina) – See all my reviews

With Hymie away on assignment and unable to serve as Max's best man, the Chief orders Max to make Admiral Hargrave (William Schallert) his best man, while protecting him from KAOS. The Admiral is in town for a top secret conference (and to pitch for CONTROL against the CIA softball team) and KAOS has assigned the Chameleon to take him out. The Chameleon is a master of disguise (and as such, they don't even have to hire an actor to play him) and appears as Larabee, the Admiral and 99 at various times in the story.

Schallert is once again fantastic as the Admiral. I often wish the powers that be would have returned him to the Chief's chair for "The Nude Bomb" and "Get Smart Again" after Ed Platt passed away. He's funny and creates a very memorable character. Also making a memorable guest appearance is Jack Cassidy as Mr. Bob, a interior designer 99 hires to redecorate Max's apartment (somebody beat him to it--Max and 99 are locked in a closet just to the right of the main entrance door, where the kitchen was not two episodes ago!) with a fey exterior but a tough interior.
