Heavy Padding
29 November 2007 | by (Argentina) – See all my reviews

The second half of this two-parter is not as successful as the first and seems to suffer from a good deal of padding. Max and his pal Sid (Don Rickles) resume their attempt to recover the little black book and find themselves going against an evil KAOS agent named the Maestro (Robert Easton). But before they get to that, they are arrested for assaulting a police officer (actually they are the ones assaulted, hit before they can complete the old Hope-Crosby "pattycake" routine) and are sprung by CONTROL lawyer Agent 17 (another old Admas friend, Joey Foreman, who also played Harry Hoo). The story is stretched out even further as Rickles has to see a psychiatrist and they go through an inkblot test, they accidentally break into the wrong house and walk in on Ernest Borgnine and his wife watching TV (this was a big season for cameos) and in what seems to be an attempt to kill a joke once and for all, do a painful run of "the old ___ in the ____ trick". 99 and the Chief make only cameo appearances at the very end of this episode, which is less "Get Smart" and more the Don and Don show.
