Turning Lead into Gold
24 January 2008 | by (Argentina) – See all my reviews

It's like at the end of the season the brains behind "Get Smart" suddenly remembered the value of creating a great bad guy for 86 to fight. Inspired by Raymond Burr's "Ironside", Leadside is a KAOS bad guy who spends most of his time in a wheelchair (in an odd quirk, he can't walk or stand, but can run amazingly fast!). Like Ironside, he is assisted by a multi-cultural team including Norman (Paul Carr from "Star Trek") and Kelley (the lovely Annazette Chase!). After Max foils Leadside's art museum robbery, the villain swears his revenge: by destroying CONTROL and killing Max. Played by Ronald Long, he's a terrific bad guy and has a very amusing scene in his secret headquarters--a moving van where he rolls back and forth whenever the truck starts and stops. The script is funny and Adams is again at the top of his game. It's too bad Leadside never returned to menace Smart again.
