Bender as Santa? Now I really have seen everything
22 December 2013 | by (Valhalla) – See all my reviews

Here is the eleventh Christmas title I have decided to review in celebration and the second Futurama Christmas Special. This one I am glad to say does still keep showing what we loved about the first one while also bringing new ideas into it.

The plot is that to prepare for Xmas Professor Farnsworth creates a metal armour for the entire building. In related news the Fry, Leela and Bender have to deliver letters to Santa on Neptune. When they get there they accidentally freeze Santa to the ground and Bender takes his place as the good Santa... As good as he can be. But any robotic Santa is set in stone as the bad one. After the real Santa saves Bender from his execution Bender joins Santa "in his slaying tonight".

I do like the ideas and the parallels with the Santa mythology but this just isn't as funny as the other one. Don't get me wrong there are some funny moments and it is very much worth this episode to see them. Things such as Bender and Santa teaming up are fun to watch as is well... Bender taking the role of Santa. So this episode is really good fun to see but I prefer Xmas Story.
