In the sixth season, Full House went to Disney World. This was part of a mandate set forth by Disney who had then purchased ABC and required all of their family sitcoms at the time (Family Matters, Roseanne, Step by Step, etc.) to do episodes where the characters go to Disneyland or Disney World. Mostly it was Disney World, which was bigger and making it easier to film scenes. Anyway, so Jesse wants to take Rebecca for their anniversary, but it wouldn't be FULL HOUSE unless the Tanners went along too. They bring Kimmy because....well, there was no reason at all for her to be there, but because a minority of fools in the audience loved her to pieces, she became the shlep along.
So, they go to Disney World and instead of stay together, they go off on separate routes, in order to include separate plot lines, which is a good idea but it was executed poorly. Mainly because a trip to Disney World can't make much of a story. They go to Disney World, they're there. Everybody knows the place so you don't have to explain it. What could they do that you could possibly build a story on? Having no choice, I guess the writers had to try and I assume this was the best they could come up with, proving that this series of Disney episodes were nothing more than commercials for the park endorsed by our favorite shows. Shameful market campaign. But back to the episode, SO, what thrilling misadventures do the Full House gang embark on during their stay in the Magic Kingdom? I'll tell you: predictable, cliché and ridiculous...staying true to the show, but just painful to watch.
Jesse and Joey do their stupid radio show at the bottom of a lake....WHY? How did they get down there in the first place since they were so afraid of sharks?? That a really pointless scene. Danny tries endlessly to propose to Vicky, but each and every time he's about to pop the question, he's conveniently interrupted by various inexplicable situations. It's as if someone's waiting for him to ask before they jump in and interrupt him. Fate's a b*tch, ain't she? But the BIGGEST and probably WORST plot line in the history of the show involves the girls. It is THE most PREDICTABLE moment in television history! You could see this coming 500 miles away! As the girls go down Main Street, this guy on an Aladdin float says whoever can rub the giant lamp and make the genie pop out will become prince or princess for a day and will be granted three wishes. GEE, I WONDER WHO THAT'S GOING TO BE. Naturally the random kids in the background don't win, so Stephanie is about to try when Michelle pushes ahead of her. DJ's like, "it's not like she's going to get it." WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? So, well, you know what happens next. What an INSULT to the audience. Look up PREDICTABLE in the dictionary, there's a passage from this scene in there. I swear. SO, Princess Michelle bosses around DJ, Kimmy and Stephanie, who automatically obey and follow her around anyway, grumbling about it. They ride the carousel 30 times and whenever they object, Michelle has to remind them she's wearing a princess crown and her grotesque mugshot is posted EVERYWHERE throughout the park. When did they take her picture and how did they manage to post it up around a place as big as Disney World so fast??? Whatever. So they decide to ditch Her Majesty, leaving the spoiled brat to run off and disappear. When they see her gone, they become afraid that maybe something awful happened to her....weren't they JUST saying that they hated her? Why should they care??
Stephanie continues to let a 6-year-old get to her as she sulks back to the hotel. She tells Joey about the matter and ol' Gladstone tells her it was actually her own fault. Gee, I'm sure she felt better after that. It was her fault Michelle cut ahead of her and won the stupid prize. I guess it was also Stephanie's fault Michelle ran away and worried everybody half to death? Joey's really a bozo in this one. But then along comes Michelle, having a change of heart and advocates her crown to Stephanie, allowing her to be in the parade, and as an EXTRA INCENTIVE OF HUMILIATION, her whole family and Kimmy get to be in the parade...and how foolish they look!
But our story has a happy ending, like a true Disney film. Danny successfully proposes to Vicky and we assume they are to be married. After such a structured set up such as this, it was to be expected....but for some reason they call it off next season. WTF? This episode was a waste, just an excuse for the cast and crew to get a free trip to Disney World and nothing but a 1 hour commercial for the park. Like I said, the writers didn't have much to work with and I'm sure they tried, but the episode still sucks. It shouldn't have been made.
