Kimble is working at a liquor store and makes friends with a young man, Larry Corby, played by actor Beau Bridges. When a masked bandit robs the store while Kimble and the owner are present, Kimble falls under suspicion of complicity, because he has worked there only a week, and claims to come from over 1000 miles away.
The robber, Larry, was shot in the attempt, and seriously wounded. His father learns who Kimble is, and forces him to treat Larry. Larry and his father have a bad relationship.
The father is Sheriff Corby, played by actor John Larch. Kimble faces multiple dangers as the police hunt for the robbery suspect and for Kimble, and Sheriff Corby determines to do whatever it takes to force Kimble to save Larry's life and protect him from the law.
