Kimble is a clerk in a liquor store that gets robbed. The garrulous boss shoots the robbery, who escapes. The police think the guy is the same man who has previously robbed and skilled two store owners. Kimble has a car to make deliveries and finds the wounded robber, Herbie, (Warren Oates), hiding in it. He forces Kimble to put him up in his hotel room. Kimble wants as little contact with the police as possible but doesn't want to be found harboring a fugitive. But the guy is wounded and he claims not to have been the one who committed those other robberies. Thus, like Kimble, he may be falsely accused. To further complicate matters, Herbie contacts his sister, who works in the post office and recognizes Kimble from his wanted poster. Herbie gets recognized and captured. He thinks Kimble turned him in. He also is told that there's a $5,000 reward for Kimble's capture. You think you got problems?
