Kimble's aiding a stranded motorist lands the fugitive in a murderous love triangle. Town floozy Lucey's car stalled waiting for adulterous Lark Adams, who she claims didn't show for a rendezvous. Lark's body was already in a roadside ditch when Kimble and Lucey met. Kimble believes Lucey's innocent. So does a gallant Deputy who saw Kimble at Lucey's right after, but his Sheriff and the town's blue-bloods would love to pin the rap on loose Lucey, out of sympathy for Lark's abused blonde wife, Amy Adams.
