Uncle Phil gives Will one simple task: Take Ashley and her friends to their violin lesson, sit, wait, and bring her home again. However, during class, Ashley confesses that she doesn't like the violin, so Will takes her to a pawn shop in East L.A. and swaps it out for a set of drums. As expected, Uncle Phil is furious, but Aunt Viv reasons that he should let her play whatever instruments she wants to play. On top of changing instruments, Will also brings in his buddy Jazz as a new music teacher. Then Will is disappointed when Ashley admits that she doesn't like the drums. Phillip asks Geoffrey to put on "the Brandenburg Concerto". However, there are six of them. Phillip considers himself a lover of classical music and should have known to ask for one by number. (In any event, they play the opening notes for the Brandenburg Concerto Number 2.) See more »

William 'Will' Smith: [about Ashley] You're trying to control her too much. She's nine years old and she already has a calender telling her where she has to be and what she has to do.
Philip Banks: But she doesn't have to worry about that because you tell her what to do? You're not her father.
William 'Will' Smith: All right. But how come you didn't even know she doesn't like the violin?
Philip Banks: She liked it for a whole year until you moved into this house. Can you explain that?
Ashley Banks: I never liked it, Daddy.
Vivian Banks: That explains it.
