Some viewers were concerned by the fact that Roz (Peri Gilpin) drinks alcohol in this episode, as it aired after the episode where she learned she was pregnant. However, this show was intended to air before Roz knew of the pregnancy, but was pre-empted for the baseball playoffs.
When the waiter throws champagne in Niles's (David Hyde Pierce) face for the second time, some of it misses him and hits Kelsey Grammer, much to the surprise and amusement of Peri Gilpin, who can be seen cracking up and trying to hide that fact.
This is the only time in the entire eleven years of Frasier that we have any direct experience of Maris. As Frasier (Kelsey Grammer), Roz (Peri Gilpin) and Martin (John Mahoney) are hiding in her bathroom, she enters. We hear her gargling and see her shadow on the shower curtain as she enters and leaves.
Martin tells Daphne that he expected to be picked up at 2nd and Bell. This is the precise location Frasier and Niles ran off to in the previous episode. In the on-location episode, when Frasier and Niles steal a quarter from the blind man they are on Bell between 3rd and 2nd. As the school kids chase them away they run directly to 2nd and Bell. The hanging traffic lights seen as they run away is where Martin would be waiting.
Roz (Peri Gilpin) says she's never seen Maris before. However, this is not true. In The Botched Language of Cranes (1994) from season 2, both Maris and Roz attended the hospital charity event where Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) spoke. Although the audience did not see Maris in that episode, at one point everyone sitting at Frasier's table, including Roz, watched Maris pursue another woman at the event in the hopes of securing a seat on that woman's fundraising board. This means Roz saw Maris at least that one time.
