Rather Disturbing
Hitchcoc2 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is an interesting episode. Frasier realizes that since arriving in Seattle he has not developed a friendship. So he takes it to the air and he meets Bob. Bob is confined to a wheelchair and obsessed with barbecue. He isn't a bad guy but he soon goes into stalker mode, constantly calling Frasier and appearing at his apartment, even thinking of moving into the same building. It actually forces Frasier to take an action that makes him feel terrible. By the way, the quote from "The Mysterious Stranger" by Mark Twain was, "Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand." It's a very moving line.

Frasier at its peak
safenoe9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Griffin Dunne plays Bob in The Friend, and it's Bob that's the friend to Frasier, although Frasier gets way too entangled with Bob and he has to extricate is way out of the friendship.

One hilarious scene was the squeaky wheelchair and Bob's hat ominously heading towards Frasier. This is one attempt at visual comedy that worked well and made me laugh out loud. The ending was pure genius in terms of scriptwriting and without a doubt made me laugh out louder and that's what we get when Frasier is at its peak. I must be one of the few imdb reviewers who is writing a Frasier review that's more than six hundred words.

Mark Twain Quote
natasha-gannon20 October 2008
hi, i was just wondering does anybody know the Mark Twain quote Fraiser says in this episode??? i remember thinking it was a very very good one & i liked the quote a lot! but i can't really remember what it was exactly and i really would like to know! Fraiser and Bob both say it at the same time and thats when Fraiser thinks he and Bob have some stuff in common and thinks he's made a new friend............ that is until Bob starts going on about BBQ's! So any help on this subject would be a great help. and very much appreciated. thank you very very very much in advance for any help you may be able to give... My kind regards. Natasha
