Storyline

A teacher is put in the awkward position of investigating her nephew when he violates one of the private school's policies. At first, it seems like a minor infraction: underage drinking. But she begins to get pressure from the boy's father, a major donor to the school, and from its superintendent to end her investigation. She suspects something more serious is being covered up. an OK television presentation, but no real surprises

A Four Star Playhouse production, 'The Adolescent' showcases Ida Lupino as a teacher trying to find out the truth behind a complaint made against one of her students, young Philip, who happens to be her nephew.

Philip claims to have been out drinking after lights out, but the truth seems a bit more sinister - in fact, as we find out, rather more mundane and not at all surprising.

Still, for a studio bound production of 25 minutes, it isn't bad, and not that much of a bore. Lupino is always worth watching and this, although not a moral fable or thriller as you'd expect from later TV series, is adequate and watchable. Presented in the Golden Age Theater collection, picture and sound quality are excellent, which helps the production to move along.
