User Reviews

an OK television presentation, but no real surprises

A Four Star Playhouse production, 'The Adolescent' showcases Ida Lupino as a teacher trying to find out the truth behind a complaint made against one of her students, young Philip, who happens to be her nephew.

Philip claims to have been out drinking after lights out, but the truth seems a bit more sinister - in fact, as we find out, rather more mundane and not at all surprising.

Still, for a studio bound production of 25 minutes, it isn't bad, and not that much of a bore. Lupino is always worth watching and this, although not a moral fable or thriller as you'd expect from later TV series, is adequate and watchable. Presented in the Golden Age Theater collection, picture and sound quality are excellent, which helps the production to move along.
