Sonny is scared stiff with weird noises and strange apparitions in the bedroom. It is not Shirley in her curlers.
Pearl is spooked by it while Samuel is above it all. He does not believe in things going bump in the night.
Of course all this might hurt his wallet. After Vilma's suggestion, Pearl calls in spiritualist Mrs Pugh. It only cost Samuel a crisp fiver.
When Mrs Pugh arrives to hold a seance, it could all be due to Mrs Pugh's late husband. He was a racialist and hence does not like the Fosters.
Is It all a scam? Especially when her husband turns up to collect something Mrs Pugh had forgotten.
Maybe it was a trick of the light as far as Samuel is concerned.
The series did not go out with a bang. Lenny Henry gets to mimic Mrs Pugh but I always got the feeling the show never fully utilised his talents.
