- The murdered woman's husband was a US Air Force soldier who actually worked in the same department that investigated his crime. He destroyed critical evidence, by smashing a floppy computer disk, that eventually led to his conviction after ground breaking forensic procedures were developed to read the disk. Behind the murder of the young mother was a mixture of greed (for insurance money) seduction (the affair between the beautiful 20 something year old housekeeper and the airman) and corruption (hiring the housekeeper's family member to commit murder in exchange for expected insurance money). The young son was interviewed as an adult in the writing of this story, such a heartbreaking experience for the child to have experienced.—Lenore
- Clark Air Base in the Philippines, now defunct, was known as a place where dishonest locals could scam naïve American soldiers, particularly by using attractive women as a means to an end. At that time there was a 60% unemployment rate in that country together with widespread poverty. One pretty young woman could literally be responsible for supporting an extended family of unemployed relatives.—Lenore
