Sister Bertrille is away from the convent by herself collecting rocks for the children. She enters a mine where she runs into a man named Bill Watkins (Henry Jaglom). In their scuffle they strike a beam that causes the ceiling to collapse, blocking the entrance/exit. In throwing a rock Bill strikes himself on the head and Sister Bertrille treats his wound. He reveals that he is an escaped convict and tells his story. When Sister Bertrille falls she is tended to by Bill. Within the circumstances of being caved-in they try to get along and find a way out.
