The convent's new handyman
JordanThomasHall14 September 2018
"Some people think the age of miracles is past, but don't you believe it," begins Sister Jacqueline in her opening narration. Dinner at the convent on a dark, rainy night is interrupted by a broken down car. The driver, Alonzo Baldazon (character actor Nehemiah Persoff who is still with us as of 2018 at age 99), takes shelter in the convent. The rains has left the convent with leaks throughout their roof, and with its general state Sister Bertrille asks Senior Baldazon to stay on to be their handyman. Unknown to the convent, he is an important businessman who phones his associate Maurice (Miguel Ángel Landa) to say he enjoys it there and plans to stay on as their handyman. He secretly begins buying them major items they badly need. They're items that Sister Bertrille has previously wished for and the sisters think she has the power of answered miracles. Miracles often come from unexpected and unexplained places.
